And yet they fawn over Sarah Palin - the very definition of a narcissist. She was elected governor of Alaska, but Juneau couldn’t quite cut it after she got a taste of the national stage. So, to heck with her first term. She had to quit to make a pile of money hawking a lame book full of whining about how mistreated she was by the very people who made her a celebrity.
Every politician has an ego. Her’s is just bigger than most, including Obama’s.

A great comparison between Obama and Palin! Both are narcissist. Both are cashing in on book deals. Both cronically lose support as the nation gets to know them. Both have their character overshadowed by their celebrity. And Obama would be right in Palin’s shoes had McCain/Palin won the election.

You paint Palin in a very negative way. Honest and objective or full of slanderous connotation? I really see Obama and Palin in the same boat here. Opposition media behaves like tabloids and supportive media behaves like real estate agents. Why is critisizing opposition of Obama considered defensive while critisizing the oppostion of Palin is called “whining”?

Joe, your willingness to listen–openly and objectively–can be easily measured by whether you have actually read the book about which you are giving giving your opinion. Could it be, Joe, that you have discounted her book before you have actually read it!!?? At least I didn’t call “The Audacity of Hope” platitudinous tripe until I read it.

Seriously, she’s a Media Addict, so her complaining about all that’s like an alcoholic getting mad at beer for making them look fat. Or a pot smoker blaming their pipe or bong for getting them high. There WAS no appropriate way to handle her silly presentation to the nation at the world at large, her own mirrors would show her in the exact same light. The Media picks at everyone, if she can’t hack it at campaigning she wuold have definitely caved in during vice-presidency. She really does like it though, it’s attention, negative attetion though but still she’s so desperate to not be forgotten. She’ll even show up on late nite talk shows just to stay in circulation and try to peddle off more of her “How to Exhibit a Severe Lack of Self-Awareness and Accountability and Look Good Doing It” books.

Democrats value substance over appearance, I like a politician that is up on current events/issues and doesn’t need to be fed talking points from a group of handlers. Heck, if they can name one or two newspapers that doesn’t hurt either.
Maverick, you have a pretty good point there, this whole nation is indeed becoming a nation of narcissists, just look at the generation coming out of school right now. Facebook, myspace, texting, cell phones, all media that makes the individual more important. I think the fact that Obama is trying to accomplish things as the president and Palin is just floating around out there in celebrity book tour-land justifies the distinctions in characterization.

Smart???? Maybe Sarah Palin is the Republicans definition of smart…It took her 5 years to finish a 4 year degree.Also, she went through several different Colleges/Univ. Quitting after a semester or two at the various locations…
