Obama’s Closet Commies

02 September 2009 | By joe-kgmi in Uncategorized

I guess I knew that the whole “socialist” thing wouldn’t end with the campaign and the right would try to hang it around Obama’s neck at every perceived opportunity.  But it’s escalated to a level of hysteria (and I don’t mean that in a sexist way) that I don’t think anybody expected.

Obama is being equated with Hitler and Stalin and any other brutal dictator that can be grabbed off the rhetorical shelf.  Those comparisons are not only indecent and wrong, but plain stupid and, yes, childish.  Calls to the program today likening Obama’s planned speech to American school children - about the importance of hard work and a good education - to the indoctrination of the Hitler Youth would be laughable if they weren’t made with such seriousness.  And that’s what’s scary.

And we hear non-stop about the scary communists who are part of Obama’s administration.  Glenn Beck carries on about Van Jones, a man who has worked his whole life to better things for people and the planet.  As a young man he saw injustice in this system - and yes, there is injustice in this system - and rebelled against it by professing his adherence to a system - communism - that was at complete odds with one in which he saw much inequality.  His views tempered over time and he turned to contemplating how society and the environment can coexist in a mutually benefitial way.  We’ve heard much about “Van Jones in his own words.”  But here are some words of his that Fox News can’t seem to find…

“[W]e are entering an era during which our very survival will demand invention and innovation on a scale never before seen in the history of human civilization. Only the business community has the requisite skills, experience, and capital to meet that need. On that score, neither government nor the nonprofit and voluntary sectors can compete, not even remotely.

So in the end, our success and survival as a species are largely and directly tied to the new eco-entrepreneurs — and the success and survival of their enterprises. Since almost all of the needed eco-technologies are likely to come from the private sector, civic leaders and voters should do all that can be done to help green business leaders succeed. That means, in large part, electing leaders who will pass bills to aid them. We cannot realistically proceed without a strong alliance between the best of the business world —and everyone else.”

Those are words from his 2008 best seller The Green Collar Economy, and are hardly the words of a committed communist.  He’s a smart man who’s dedicated himself to coming up with ways to make our economy more sustainable.  He’s the right guy for the job.

The ridiculous charges being made against Obama and his appointees are nonsense and discredit those who bring them much more than they do the president.  The truly sad thing is that we can’t have an honest argument in America anymore.  As we’ve seen with health care, we can’t debate the issues or legislation honestly.  It’s just smear smear smear.

  1. Just a quick fact…

Glenn Beck is being targeted for sponsor boycott by the group “Color of Change” for racist comments regarding the President.

During Katrina, Kanye West, on national TV, claimed “George Bush hates black people”. Racist comment.

“Color of Change” sells T-shirts on it’s website that say “Kanye was right”

    Hypocrisy at it’s finest…..

One big Opinion that is designed to create the next bubble, that Van Jones, Gore, Pelosi, Reid, Waxman, and Obama are all in position to cash out on. Where’s my sources? Obama was the President of the Chicago Climate exchange, and still is a major shareholder. Gore, well that is obvious, and Google the rest. They all have shares and interest in Green Companies.

    Nice try Joe!

  3. Wow Joe, those are some pretty ridiculous things for a communist to say. I’ll bet he’s trying to fool us. The Fox fear factory, and it’s opinion anchors disguised as journalists, has unsurprisingly avoided developing a comprehensive and broad knowledge of the presidents advisors. Why would anyone want to do that when it’s so much easier to take only the “facts” that you want and scare anyone that will listen into thinking the communists are coming, the black president is after the whites, the president is weakening America to terrorists, the government is going to kill your grandparents, AHHH!!!

Where does it end? Why are republicans so obsessed with fear? I own many guns but I don’t own them so I can feel validated when conservative opinion shows start telling me I’m going to need them to protect myself and my family from the government. I’m not that paranoid. I’m hoping that some day soon Beck will break off, form a militia and take all of his followers to northern Idaho. Then the communists, black racists and terrorists won’t be able to get them.

If the people of this country weren’t so lazy and were willing to read multiple sources of news with multiple political perspectives we would be a much more reasonable country. Instead people only want to listen, watch or read what they agree with so they don’t have to challenge themselves. So basically, shame on you Barack Obama for suggesting our children should strive to do well in school. It’s much easier for corporate news conglomerates to manipulate people who are too lazy to read critically or form opinions they haven’t seen/heard on opinion talk shows.

  4. It would appear that Mr. Jones was trying to influence people with his speech, he did, he antagonized many and now he’s gone…….prediction next to go Carol Browner, socialist and Energy and Enviro Czar…….the peasants are at the bridge and they are carrying torches and pitchforks.

  5. Let the market take care of itself. Do not pass any more bills - we are already broke many times over because of this kind of thinking from both major parties. Good ideas will succeed, bad ones won’t. We have enough grant writers out there who are milking the system dry. Government is already in too many places it was never intended to be by the framers of our constitution.

  6. LoL, My friendsh, blahahahar. Thish ish yer ol’pal Cat Limbarn. But seriously, I was just musing over this over at Patti’s Blog about Obama ‘Wanting to Rule The Internet’.

With Talent On Loan from Gandhi lol jk, I can see why they’re opposed to education {for our children} in a way, educated people know better than to believe the fantastical hypocritical conspiracies The Not-so-right are relying way too heavily upon to vainly attempt to retake the country in the name of backwards unthinking ignorance.
It’s like believing the National Enquirer is a credible news source, like thinking that Wrestling is real, like believing anything off of the Cry-By Media’s Wetsheets. It’s the kinda stuff that if attempted in real life will only wind up getting someone hurt. It’s malicious and irresponsible to continue to perpetuate and spread these distracting various destructive counterproductive Obamaphobias about. AM I right, Schnerdley? It’s childish to stoop down low enough to the level of intelligence required to believe any of it.

    {No, Rush and his Rushians, the Real reason we have Two branches of Government is it seems Half of our population is too easily led, too easily Rushed to anger and incited to acts of immature insanity, and these geniuses want more gun rights? Don’t believe me? Listen to some of the calls to The Morning Show. They really are out there.}

And Big Ups to John Stewart! At least his opinions don’t Change from year to year, presidency to presidency. Unlike a local celebrity at the rightwing’s Beck and call.

  7. Well, Once again we can easily tell that folks have strong opinions gleaned from misquotes of Rush rather than actually spending time listening to what the man has to say.
What a shame. I dare anyone to listen to Rush, 1 hour per day for 2 weeks, and then still hold the view that he is not a truthful, intelligent, man who, at least in the 3 years that I have been listening to him has never been caought lying or misrepresenting himself to the American people in order to manipulate them. It is obvious that he is not a racist or a hate-monger, oh, but you would actually have to listen directly to him rather than the lies that are said about him. Listening to news anchors gossip might not be leading you to understand the world that we live in.
There is a good reason that Rush is the most popular talk show host ever… How about having an open mind and listen and check your facts.
If we only listen to what one side, right or left we will never have a clear view of the issues, and only be able to spout uninformed drivel.
Check it out, check it all out!

  8. Rush is a blowhard, give me a break. His motive is tearing down the current administration, that is the only thing of substance I can draw from listening to his show. He’s a modern day McCarthy who would prefer the citizens of this country stop using their brains to critically evaluate news and listen only to his egotistical crap. The EB network? What a narcissist.

  9. Rush misquotes himself just fine, verbatim he shoots off his own feet when he shoots off his mouth.

All he is is a drama king and a cheerleader for mindless counterproductive thoughts and behaviors. His party lost, he should really get over it. He did have my attention when he was mad at the republican party for losing the midterms and later the presidency, almost disavowing them even lol, but the good news is the party seems to be taking their marching orders from him now.

Good news, because he’s Lush Windbag, and really knows next to absolute nothing about politics. :D Making up wild stories about the opposition doesn’t make one an expert.

I mean if I yell “commie” at any democrat or liberal I see, will it really make me a better person? Think about it. :)

    You decide.

  11. Joe, You are forgetting that last year you went out of your way to bash George W Bush and his actions on a daily basis and you never minced any words in your criticism.
Now you are really upset that Obama is being scrutinized and some of his choices are criticized.
Selective memory! Turn about is fair play!

  12. Hmmm comparing Obama to Hitler and Stalin. I remember just around 1-8 years ago Bush being compared to Hitler and Sauron!!! Van Jones ideas at a glance seem pro business, but they are really pro green business. If they are so profitable they shouldn’t need any government help such as what Van Jones is suggesting.

Most politicians have no clue as to what will benefit the economy and try and pass bills that will make them look good. Look at gov. subsidies for Farmers. That works great! Look at rent control. Look at affirmative action. Look at tariffs. All these attempts to control the market to benefit certain people usually have the opposite effect.

If eco friendly business is so viable let it run its own course, you don’t need government help.

Barncat you are proving many right wingers stereotypes about liberals. That all you can say is right wingers are uneducated rush zombies, and Rush knows nothing of politics. And then give props to your main man John Stewart (Whose main argument is to say something sarcastically and look into the camera with his “what an idiot” expression). I have lived in Bellingham for 9 years all the while drinking, bar hopping, playing music and basically hanging out with a primarily liberal crowd. The thing I have noticed most about liberal ethos is what I call “Open minded like me”; wherein as long as you believe what they believe, you are considered open minded, educated and enlightened. It’s like the same fervor you put into hating Bush has changed into blind love for Obama (or perhaps hating those who oppose him).
If you don’t think there is a media bias just look at all the negative economic news durings Bush’s terms (The sky was falling and Bush was on the cusp of becoming a dictator), and all the positive news about the economy now (What? You mean it’s good news that we lost jobs at a slightly slower rate than we thought?) I subscribe to Mother Jones, The Atlantic, National Review, Discover, I listen to Rush, Glenn Beck, as well as Jello Biafra and Leftover Crack. I bet I am friends with way more Liberals (and we’re talking anarcho-communist liberal) than you conservatives. So you tell me, am I a brainwashed Rushian? I must be if I’m not enlightened and open minded like you.

  13. Open-Minded is simply the opposite of Close-Minded, if you’re not one you’re the other. Sure there’s no telling the close-minded what they’re being, they’re too close-minded to admit it, but what do all the republican talking points resemble to you? Empty baseless protests as far as I’m concerned. Sore-losing. Cleverly twisted trivialities meant to court the angry and closeminded, those scared to screaming death of change. Unfounded and ungrounded. I am open minded but to open my mind to the closemindedness I’d have to close mine off as well. I’ll stay open minded thank you. After all, I can’t be EnLightened by the guidance of those kept in the Dark.

Now to reply to the rest, I have no blind love for Obama, he’s come up quite short on Alot of what I expected him to have done by now. The Wars Against Abstract Concepts {WAACs} are still going, I have not benefited financially from any budget adjustments yet, and we haven’t seen any immediate reduction in the costs and bills of a supposedly ubroken medical system yet. Still, he stands for alot more of what I value than a texas oily tycoon did.

As for what you are? Spoiling for a fight I guess, unfortunately you’re faced in the wrong direction.

  14. Rush kicks ass and you know it thats why you are afraid if him. democrats lie and manipulate darn near 100% of the time, so when we expose them (which is so easy)they get mad. They attack with personal attacks (Rush, Palin, Bush Ect.) Thats all the little koolaid drinkers can do, is act like little inmature children. Where are all those corner war protesters? I saw the OLD lady who rides the bike with the war signs on it yesterday and wouldn’t you know- NO SIGNS???? and the little boy on lakeway who knows how to count on his sign “how cute”, his indoctrination paid off. You pathetic libs your the smartest stupid people I have ever met, thanks for making it so easy to make fun of you, and yes I am closed minded I would never want anything to do with you fools, how embarrassing to be a democrap these days.

  15. Lmao, I missed this one, how cute, I have a me-themed blog archenemy whatever type eh? Neato. Well wanna-be of Me, I don’t fear Rush in the slightest, Palin’s a persistent exhausted joke and Bush’s nothing more than the mess he left behind. They’re fluff and nonsense now as they were then. I’m only concerned about those who Idolize them and look Up to them still, to me one has to think pretty low and little of themselves to put those three above them. On the other hand, your emulation of me is a nice from of flattery, I’m almost blushing here! :D Let’s go find us a BarnMouse and I’ll have the starts of a fan club going myself.
