Obama and Iran
22 June 2009 | By joe-kgmi in UncategorizedRepublicans in congress and others are criticizing President Obama for not being more supportive of the protesters in Iran. But I think they’re forgetting, or ignoring the fact that he toes a very fine line.
Iran’s supreme leader has already blamed the U.S. and the west in general for fomenting the unrest that has led to the protests over the disputed election and even for causing the protests themselves. He doesn’t have much to base that claim on, but would if Obama jumps in as a cheerleader for the protest movement.
This is the Iranian peoples’ fight, not ours. It would only undermine and demean their bravery if Obama were to grandstand on Iran’s turmoil.

LoL, Joe. This may be all the blog you need to post for awhile, the disagreements on this one can stack up indefinitely for weeks, maybe months.
I do think it’s ThEiR football game, if America runs out onto the field yelling and screaming the teams aren’t playing OuR way then it’s just gonna screw up the score and slow down the whole proceeding.
Besides as I’ve said before, a bit sarcastically, the Middle East IS following GWB’s example of Democracy now, the type we have been over there seeming to think we need to cram down their throats for “their own good”, well there it is! Probably right down to the same voting machines and methods that worked for our own international conscience and hero of democracy and patriotism himself to get his last 2 terms in.
They’ll get their change on their own, we did. America’s gotta focus more on America.

I agree that the citizens of Iran need to pursue this on their own. Of course we as Americans won our freedom without any help or support. With this critera, we never should have helped in WWI, WWII, Korea, or Vietnam etc. But every American President seems to pick and choose who they will support and who is just not worth the effort. I wish we would stop sending millions of dollars overseas for foreign welfare. We can use the money here. I think we should pull our troops home to safe guard our borders and round up all the illegals here to send them home. Let’s start with the countries we have been in the longest and work our way up to the Middle East and then when the Middle East explodes we can all ride our bikes to work. Wonder if this President thinks about his carbon footprint when he is flying all over? Wonder if he considers the hungry and homeless when he hosts all these fancy parties for his politicqal buddies? I want change and for someone to lead my example and to continue to live above and apart from all the Americans who pay their salaries and living expenses

Nichol
You need to reread your history about the Revolutionary War and check to see which countries helped us.
Or are you a victim of our public school system?

The public school system we have no problem with and don’t want Obama working on improving any? {raises hand because he has the answer} The French helped us win our independence from England, but even they wouldn’t help us Invade another country! We shouldn’t be either. Our educational system’s no great shakes. At least it wasn’t when I was in school. It didn’t teach that as far back as Lincoln the belief that allowing a president to invade any country that they deem a threat gives them free license to do so. We Ourselves shouldn’t be helping our leadership rule the rest of the world. That the Bill Of Rights itself spoke against the ability to hold anyone imprisoned without the benefit of due process. Guan-tan-a-meraaa. These are just from the quotes in Whatcom County Yellow pages. Lastly and this one’s just from educating the self rather than buying the party line, one of the main reasons the Middle East is such a mess is we’ve been interfering in their ability to govern themselves for decades now. Is more of our “help” going to improve matters over there at all?

Actually sorry, I correct myself, we’ve had help with the French and others invading the sovereign nation of…
North America!
Amazingly? That was Also a grab for power, territory, capital and resources!
When does it End.
